This past week, the United States Supreme Court held oral arguments regarding the District of Columbia v. Heller case. This case disputes the constitutionality of a law banning handguns in Washington DC. Don Transue, a gun rights activist and coordinator of the website www.gunmap.org was one of only 66 people from the public who were allowed to attend these arguments and listen in. This past week, the United States Supreme Court held oral arguments regarding the District of Columbia v. Heller case. This case disputes the constitutionality of a law banning handguns in Washington DC. Don Transue, a gun rights activist and coordinator of the website www.gunmap.org was one of only 66 people from the public who were allowed to attend these arguments and listen in. Shawn Healy, Resident Scholar, and Nathan Richie, Director of Programs and Exhibits, were able to interview Mr. Transue over the phone. This podcast contains that interview. Listen to find out the difference between individual and collective rights, and how this case could have an impact on the interpretation of the 2nd Amendmend to the U.S. Constitution.
